Failed Campaign Effort
Friends and supporters,
Georgia’s restrictive ballot
access laws claimed another victim. Our campaign for the
governorship is over. Our effort to collect nearly 40,000 signatures
on nomination petitions failed.
Therefore, I made the
decision to end the effort and not undergo qualifying this week.
To all of you who signed our petitions; collected
signatures; corresponded with me; shared your stories; visited or
called our headquarters; invited me to address your group; hosted me
in your communities; made financial contributions; educated me on a
wide range of issues that greatly affect your lives; or, simply
offered encouragement, thank you.
Campaigning is tough, but
you were worth each of the 10,000 miles I traveled. You were worth
each dollar spent. You were worth every minute of the past three
years of my life researching, reading, writing, speaking, traveling,
etc. You, your families, your futures, your jobs, your communities,
your safety, your prosperity, your concerns and your
Georgia were worth every bit of the time, effort and money!
Again, thank you.
I will spend this week closing down the
headquarters, writing many personal thanks, closing out the books,
filing final campaign reports and archiving memorabilia for my
grandchildren and posterity.
Is it the end? No. The
headquarters will return to it’s origin- my garage. But, the website
will remain active until election day. Site activity remains strong.
Many Georgians remain interested in the issues as I expressed them
in those 190 pages. I urge you to continue using them as a resource.
They will only be part of the debate if you make it so.
I
will continue to be accessible. My email address that hundreds of
you used to correspond with me will remain active. It is john@dashlerforgov.com.
Feel free to remain in touch. Continue to share your concerns. I
will respond to you.
In closing, I am reminded of a favorite
quote. Winston Churchill said, “Never, never, never,
never quit!” Don’t quit, Georgians. We’ve lost a
battle. There will be more battles. We will win our share. We will
never quit! We will win the war.
Our founding fathers risked
their lives, the lives of their families, their fortunes and their
good honor to advance a cause: the right of self-government,
self-determination, fair and equal representation and access.
Combined, we call them liberty and freedom! They were worth fighting
for then. They are worth fighting for now!
Join me in that
fight- the fight for equal ballot access! More on that fight will be
forthcoming soon. Those that are interested in participating, email
your sentiments and stay tuned. Your involvement is needed and
welcome!
Thank you.
With fondest regards and deep
gratitude,
John Dashler, john@dashlerforgov.com
